Mr. Matthews, you are mine today.
Edit: After a rather tumultuous day, I managed to make it to the Dave Matthews band concert last night. Pretty ridiculously talented band whose religious followers rival that of John Mayers’. They played a lot of stuff that I wasn’t really familiar with, but I could recognize a lot of the tunes that were being played, so it was easy to bob my head.
The night was almost perfect with almost no wind and not a cloud in the sky. The crowd was probably 10,000+ strong and most reeked of excitement, booze, and pot. Wicked cool. The surprise of the night would have to be the discovery of drummer Carter Beauford. Honestly, Steve Jordan has nothing on him. He reminds me of a super polished and a much older version of Tony Royster Jr. During the last encore (Two Step), they basically let him jam for 5 minutes. His style is SO clean. Plus, his drum set looks pretty nuts; how could you NOT love him?

Not to say that I’m not a bandwagoner, though. Up until a few years ago, I really didn’t like Dave Matthews because I thought he and his band were a lame gimmick band. I stand corrected. (Thanks, Ellen!) These guys are all true musicians and have really honed their craft.
